Sunday Musings

-Addie Russell will be the guest on the HOTLINE this Tuesday. Thanks to her and Dave Forsythe for their willingness to be on live radio. Kudos also to the Sheriff candidates.
I don't think a radio interview affects that many votes but its nice to give people a chance to hear these folks.
A live show like this would be a great chance for candidates who say they want debates (Darrel) and for candidates who insist they are not hiding (Patty). But realistically I don't expect any more candidates. We will see what happens.
-This is also a week when the ribbon is cut on the $60M+ Samaritan Medical Center remake. That should be quite an addition to the City.
-Tuesday night City Council discusses the proposed uniform PILOT proposed by the county IDA. Last week West Carthage Mayor Scott Burto and Champion Supervisor Terry Buckley spoke out strongly against the proposal.
-Rep. Owens must be worried. He is blanketing Sunday football with commercials about Doheny being a foreign banker...A sort of Manchurian candidate from Alexandria Bay.....Pretty lame.

And meanwhile back at the ranch, The JCIDA funneled money back into a paper mill the JCIDA CEO owns. How Odd??

Addie will prepare well for this debate. I only have one question for her, why did you vote for Micro-stamping? This is a prime example of her disconnect with NNY. It also is an example of following Silver. She did a lot of Rah Rah for OCF but her ranting did not even turn a head in Albany.

It is amazing that the JCIDA just gave a company who admits to not have any commitments for sales, $250,000 in a loan and $100,000 grants to go into Don's pocket. And to top it off this is money that the Ida received for allowing companies to avoid paying taxes. I would like to see a total dollar amount that Don has received from us taxpayers over the years.

I watch the debates the other night and boy did Ken look lost and out of touch. He misleads the voters so bad over the tax rate almost to the point he is lying. I think if he keeps saying it he hopes it will come true. Jefferson county has not lowered the taxes for the last seven years!! Just cause the rate has went down doesn't mean you lowered taxes. The tax levy has went up each of the last seven years so taxes have went up. Just keep lying Ken someone will believe you. The sad thing is I don't think Ken knows the difference.

Q: How come certain groups work like a dog to write up a good grant application only to see the pol in office make the announcement and get the credit?

re: AJ Russell getting credit for announcing a grant to local police for some cameras?

I don't get it - btw: is grant money, "free" money??

Hey 8:22 you hit the nail on the head, Wonder if Buckley and Burto know this? Or care.

Speaking about things that are pretty lame, I'm driving past Doheny's campaign office Saturday night and I see a White Stretch Limo, with about 8 doors on each side that looks like its half a City block long. And I thought to myself its a typical Republican situation. All the Republican big wigs come in for a "Taking Back NYS Bus tour; and then at 11:30 PM are driven home or to the Airport in a Stretch limo that must cost a few thousand a day to rent. I hate to be petty, but man a Democrat would likely stay sober and save people donating to the campaign the cost of a Stretch Limo long enough to have a swimming pol in it or a spa. These peope are so far away from everyday people. You can't make it up!

You don't know what that was about, MMM. Don't you have anything better to do on Sat night than drive by Doheny's campaign office? Strange little man you are.

Poly, she voted for micro-stamping because she is a non-thinking, Sheldon following liberal who has no understanding of the issue itself. If something makes people feel good, then it must help, therefore it is good, therefore it should be supported. Never mind if it actually works. They never care about that. She is Sheldon's little girl and needs to be voted out. I can support Darrel, I cannot support her.

Anon 11:13 Nice try, but had to drive my wife to Smithville. It was just the easiest way go. No don't you feel strange and Petty. Well probably not, you just feel like a Tea Bugger right? I always know when I hit the mark with you guys, the sky lights up with you going ballistic. Stay calm well end you misery on 11/2 electing Rep. Bill Owens to Congress.

Mike you were supporting DOheny before the primary....You are a stalking horse...a bird dog...

1 large limo to the airport is less expensive then renting multiple cars or worse, taking multiple taxis. That isn't a big deal.

I'm a registered Republican who thought Matt Doheny would move towards the center after defeating Hoffman to be in a position to successfully challange Bill Owens. Instead he moved towards Barie/Tea Party and some very rigid ideas about what this economy needs to get going. I feel ending the Bush Tax Cuts will do more to narrow the budget deficit then a lot of other measures. I can't agree with Mr. Doheny that it hurts small businesses. Its just not true in my mind. Mr. Doheny feels it will also hurts Dairy farmers, but I disagree. The beginning of this campaign cycle and when I started speaking with the Mayor on his show, I made it crystal clear that I was a believer in getting more disposable income into the Middle-Class hands and pushed taking property tax levels back ten years. I've never wavered, I really feel America needs a viable Middle class or we're all going under together economically speaking. So there's no master strategy going on here to betray Matt, I just feel he doesn't represent the Middle-Class well with his policies.

Anon 10:24, I saw Burto at the meeting so he knows. His letter and comments were right on. He left the IDA board speechless. Jeff was there maybe he can tell you more about it or post the comments he made.

Maybe the stretch limo belonged to The Donald of JCIDA fame, after selling the killer of a paper mill, he wants to work on electing people who will keep it going for him.

Anonymous said...

Maybe Matt will hire Don's wife for him. Since other businesses have that have recieved benefits from the IDA.

I saw Burto at the meeting and thought he was off target. All these local guys hate the ida until they want something, then they cry foul if they don't get their way.

I wonder how long Bernier Carr will tolerate his grandstanding. They live off of govenment work including IDA supported projects.

hmmmmmmm
Biting the hand that feeds you has never been a good idea.

Anon 12:53 must be an ida board member. Also according to him the IDA asked for comments so how is that grandstanding?? I am pretty sure Jeff and the city are addressing it tomorrow night. Will they be grandstanding too??

Anonymous said...

No MMM, I still wonder why you're driving your wife to Smithville at 11:30pm. You're the one doing all the explaining. My wife usually stays home most nights. The point is, you have no idea of why there was a limo at an office late at night, and yet you're so partisan you try to make points out of it. Is life really that stressed for you?

Anonymous said...

2:35Yes you have to understand he is not dealing very well with rejection thats why you should just put the ignore button on when he post some of his BS.MMM are you ok?

Anonymous said...

Who's rejecting him? We love him here.

Anonymous said...

Anon 12:53, So you agree with the IDA giving millions of taxpayers dollars away for no reason? To benefits employees and board members of the ida.

Anonymous said...

Don't forget there one of the WORST performing IDA's in the state's eyes, cost more per job than any other ida's.

Anonymous said...

If you do get Addie Jenne Russell on the Hotline, make sure you protect her by not taking many calls, Jeff.

I see the IDA board member got really really quiet when he was called out.
